Colin Varndell’s wildlife year: yellow dung fly

Although yellow dung flies have a close association with cattle and horse dung – on which they lay their eggs – they are also voracious predators of small, flying insects. This golden, furry male, sits on a red campion petal on Powerstock Common, waiting for its next meal to come by.
