Colin Varndell’s wildlife year: muntjac
The muntjac deer is a native of the Far East and the oldest of the deer species, but was only introduced to Britain at the start of the 20th century. Since then, it has steadily spread from the South East across southern England. There are a few records of this species for Dorset, which are scattered right across the county.
