Colin Varndell’s Wildlife Year – the stoat
Wherever there is an abundance of rabbits in Dorset there will be stoats. The stoat is a fierce predator of rabbits and will stand its ground against larger mammals like the fox – or even humans, when it has made a kill. This juvenile stoat was photographed near Netherbury in June.
