Colin Varndell’s Wildlife Year – badger
The badger is one of our largest wild animals. It is strictly nocturnal in its habits and is therefore rarely seen during daytime. At dusk it emerges from its underground den to trundle off in search of earthworms, its favourite food. The badger is very common in west Dorset and is active throughout the year.
